Notes about the German versions of this volume:
1st edition 1956. 2nd expanded edition (wth three additional lectures) 1979, reprinted 1991. The three added lectures were previously published 1946 as "The History and Overcoming of Imperialism". Stenographically recorded by Helen Finckh, the text is based on her initial reconstruction. The lectures were delivered in German at Oxford each in three parts. Steiner spoke for about twenty minutes, then sat down and George Adams translated. Then Steiner continuted the lecture for another twenty minutes, Adams translated that, and then Steiner concluded, followed by the translation.
